GROUND COFFEE

Some clients require espresso coffee ground and packed into various pack formats – larger packs for bulk brewers and small sachets to provide ease of use, particularly for speciality coffees to be served alongside mainstream espressos.

We only grind freshly roasted coffee beans and always within 72 hours of roasting. The fineness of grind is carefully matched to the customers brewing method for best results. Espresso machines, bulk brewing systems, filter jugs and cafetières all require different level of grind.

Beans which are ground too finely will expose too much surface area to the heated water and produce a bitter, harsh, “over-extracted” taste. At the other extreme, an overly coarse grind can produce weak coffee.

Ground coffee deteriorates faster than roasted beans because of the greater surface area exposed to oxygen, so individual sachets of 7g and 14g speciality coffees are popular for use in espresso machines alongside mainstream espressos. Sachets containing ground coffee for 3 pint jug and filter systems are very popular, as are 2 cup and 3 cup cafetière sachets.
